Aloha mai kākou! Join us this summer for a truly Hawaiian adventure—where every waterfall rappel and jungle trek is a way to mālama (care for) our beloved ʻāina (land). Rappel Maui proudly operates in the Garden of Eden Arboretum, a pesticide-free sanctuary along The Road to Hana. Here, waterfall canyoneering meets ecological stewardship, offering both adventure and deep cultural connection.
🌿 A Sanctuary of Native & Endemic Plants

The Garden of Eden spans 26 lush acres and is curated with purpose:
700+ botanically labeled specimens, including Hawaiʻi’s largest collection of kī (ti) plants—sacred to goddess Laka & known for warding off ʻino (evil).
A beautiful Enchanted Forest Trail winding through ‘ōhi‘a lehua, ginger, bamboo, rainbow eucalyptus, and rare orchids.
Spectacular views of Upper Puohokamoa Falls and Pacific Ocean vistas with the iconic Keopuka “Jurassic” Rock—immortalized in Jurassic Park.
Maui’s first ISA-certified arborist – Alan Bradbury – transformed the dense and invasive jungle into this vibrant refuge, all without pesticides. There is only limited herbicides used to manage aggressive non-native species.
🧗♂️ The Rappel Maui Experience

Each Rappel Maui trip is carefully crafted to respect this living sanctuary:
Small groups of about 8 people ensure the least environmental impact.
Guides share knowledge of native flora, Hawaiian moʻolelo (stories), and Leave No Trace ethics.
🍃 Why We Mālama the ʻĀina
Preserving cultural legacy: The Garden of Eden is a modern-day mālama ʻāina story—showing how aloha for the land can restore and protect.
Safe, pesticide-free growth fosters healthy ecosystems for endemic plants and visiting wildlife—ducks, peacocks, songbirds, and more .
Community impact: Visitor fees sustain the arboretum team of 15+ caretakers, support native plant programs in schools, and fund conservation nonprofits.
