Why Choose a Private Maui Rappelling Tour?
A private Maui rappelling tour gives your group the Rappel Maui experience with dedicated guides and no guests outside your party.
That means your adventure can move at the pace of your group.
For first-time rappellers, the private setting provides time to listen to instructions, ask questions and become comfortable with the equipment before each descent.
For guests who have rappelled before, it offers a more personal way to enjoy the canyon with family, friends or a group of your choosing.
You'll still experience everything that makes Maui rappelling so memorable: tropical rainforest, jungle cliffs and waterfall descents. The difference is that you'll share the experience only with the people you bring.

Your Private Maui Waterfall Rappelling Adventure
Your private Maui rappelling tour takes place in the Puohokamoa Valley at the Garden of Eden Arboretum along Maui's famous Road to Hana.

After meeting your guides, you'll be fitted with the equipment needed for your adventure and receive instruction before beginning your descents.
The experience includes three rappels: a dry practice rappel followed by two waterfall descents when conditions permit.
The first rappel gives you an opportunity to become comfortable with the equipment and technique before moving on to the waterfalls.
Then the adventure gets wetter.
You'll descend beside or through Maui waterfalls while surrounded by tropical rainforest and the natural features of the canyon.
Water conditions can change with Maui's weather. When heavy rain raises stream levels, guides use alternate rappel stations located safely away from the watercourse.
Never Rappelled Before? No Problem.
You don't need to be an experienced climber or rappeller to enjoy a Maui rappelling adventure.
Many Rappel Maui guests have never rappelled before.
Your guides explain how the equipment works, teach you the techniques you'll use and provide instruction throughout the experience.
A private tour can be especially appealing if someone in your group is excited about trying waterfall rappelling but would feel more comfortable learning in a private setting.
You won't be mixed with another party, so your group can experience the adventure together.

Who Is a Private Maui Rappelling Tour Good For?
A private Maui rappelling tour can be a great choice when you want to experience one of Maui's most unusual outdoor adventures with your own group.
Families and
Friends
Turn your Maui vacation into an adventure you'll be talking about long after you return home. A private tour lets your family or group of friends experience the canyon together without being combined with another party.
Couples and
Small Groups
You don't need a large group to book privately. Couples and smaller parties who value privacy and a more personal experience can reserve the private tour for themselves.
Corporate Teams and
Groups
Trade the meeting room for the rainforest. Maui waterfall rappelling gives groups an opportunity to take on a challenge, encourage one another and share an experience that's very different from a typical Maui group activity.
Schools, Youth Groups and
Summer Camps
For eligible groups, a private rappelling experience can provide a unique outdoor activity centered around challenge, teamwork and shared accomplishment.
Contact Rappel Maui before booking a school, youth or camp group to discuss current participation requirements.
Independent Travelers Who Prefer
a Private Setting
Some travelers simply prefer a smaller, more personal experience. A private tour lets you enjoy the Rappel Maui adventure without joining a regular group tour.
Where Does Your Maui Rappelling Tour Take Place?
Your private Maui rappelling tour takes place at the Garden of Eden Arboretum along the Hana Highway, between mile markers 10 and 11 on the Road to Hana.

But this isn't a typical visit to the Garden.
Rappel Maui guests enter a private section of the Puohokamoa Valley that isn't accessible through the Garden's regular walking trails.
The stream has carved cliffs, pools and waterfalls through the rainforest, creating the natural setting for your rappelling adventure.
The location also makes it possible to combine your Maui rappelling tour with other places along the Road to Hana, depending on your tour time and plans for the day.
What Should You Expect on a Private Rappelling Tour?
Your private Maui rappelling tour is active, but you don't need advanced climbing or rappelling skills.
Rappel Maui guides provide the specialized equipment and instruction needed for the experience.
During the tour, you'll complete three rappels, including a practice descent and, when conditions permit, two waterfall rappels.
After completing the descents, you'll hike approximately 300 vertical feet back to the starting elevation through the forest. Think of the uphill part as similar to climbing several flights of stairs.
Participants need to be able to walk and hike without assistance.
Before booking, review the current age, weight, physical and health requirements on our FAQ page to make sure everyone in your group is eligible to participate.

Private or Group Maui Rappelling Tour?
Both experiences give you the opportunity to explore Rappel Maui's rainforest canyon and experience Maui waterfall rappelling.
The biggest difference is who shares the experience with you.
Classic Rappelling Group Tour
The Classic Rappelling Group Tour includes other guests and is a good choice for travelers who don't mind sharing their adventure with other participants.
Private Maui Rappelling Tour
The Private Maui Rappelling Tour is reserved for your party, with two guides dedicated to your group.
If privacy, a more personal setting or sharing the experience only with family and friends is important to you, the private option may be a better fit.
Add a Private Maui Rappelling Tour to Your Road to Hana Day
Your private rappelling tour can also become one of the main experiences of a Road to Hana day.
Because Rappel Maui is located at the Garden of Eden Arboretum along the Hana Highway, you don't have to make a separate trip away from the Road to Hana to experience waterfall rappelling.
Depending on your scheduled tour time, you may be able to explore other Road to Hana stops before or after your adventure.
Don't try to fit everything into one day. Choose the places that matter most to you and allow extra time for the Hana Highway, weather and unexpected stops
